Review : Donald Duck Celebration Room
Alright! Let’s dive into the room I’m reviewing today – and I’m gonna emphasize this again – I stayed in the Donald Duck Celebration Room! This is totally one of the hottest character-themed rooms in the entire hotel.
I booked this room right around Halloween season, which made everything feel extra magical! The price for this adorable room came to approximately ¥6,400++ per night. Keep in mind, though, that room prices are like a fun little rollercoaster – they change depending on the season and how many people are staying. So the price might dance around a bit!
Pro tip: If you’re planning a Disney hotel stay, always check the current rates because they can totally vary. But trust me, for a Donald Duck fan like me, every yuan was absolutely worth it!
The room’s atmosphere is filled with adorable little details! The headboards on both sides feature the most charming Disney characters – Donald and Daisy Duck, Mickey and Minnie Mouse watching fireworks in front of the Disney castle. There’s even a pillow embroidered with Donald Duck’s name, and the headboards are incredibly beautiful. But what I absolutely love the most, and what I want everyone staying here to notice, is a secret little Tinkerbell button hidden on the headboard.
If you find this button, press it just once and watch the magic happen! Tiny lights will start dancing around the headboard, just like Tink’s pixie dust!! The lights will spread into a sparkling fireworks display across the headboard, then fly to the central mirror and transform into a Mickey Mouse symbol // I pressed it like ten times because it’s just SO COOL!!
This room also offers an additional bed, which is hidden inside the TV cabinet. When you open the cabinet, it transforms into a supplementary bed featuring Dewey, Huey, and Louie (Donald Duck’s nephews).
If you climb onto the bed, it’ll feel like they’re your companions helping you have sweet dreams.

- Every guest staying at the Disney Resort hotels gets an awesome Early Access privilege – you can enter the park a whole hour before other guests! How cool is that?
- Transportation between the hotel and the park runs all day long, with two super convenient options: Shuttle Bus and Ferry. Just between us, I totally prefer the ferry because it’s way faster and more fun! Trust me, it’s a much quicker ride compared to the bus.
- Disney characters are literally everywhere inside the hotel! They’ll be taking turns greeting guests in the lobby, so get ready for some magical encounters. You might bump into your favorite characters at any moment – how exciting!
- Here’s a super special tip: This hotel is located right across from the park, which means an incredible view of the fireworks! FAQ
Check-in time: After 3:00 PM
Check-out time: Before 11:00 AM
Room rates do NOT include breakfast – if you want to enjoy the morning feast, you’ll need to purchase it separately.
BUT – and here’s a pro tip – if you book a Club-Level Service room, breakfast is typically included! So for all you breakfast enthusiasts out there, that might be a sweet upgrade to consider!
Important Early Access Rule! This special privilege can only be used the day AFTER your check-in date. Let me break it down for you with an example:
If you check in on January 1st, your Early Access day will be January 2nd.
So mark your calendars and plan accordingly! Disney magic is all about the details!
These magical passes can’t be bought separately. They come bundled right with your room booking.
Room Size and Guest Limits: Disney’s Cozy Accommodation Rule!
The number of guests allowed depends on the room size. Generally, Disney hotels cap it at 3-4 people per night. So whether you’re planning a family getaway or a fun trip with friends, they’ve got you covered! Just make sure to check the specific room details when booking to ensure everyone’s got a comfy spot to rest after a magical day at the park.
In case you book a stay for 3 people but accidentally input only 2 guests – which is an incorrect number and needs fixing – I’ve got 3 solutions for you!
- Option 1: Inform the hotel staff during check-in and pay the difference. This is the easiest method, but let me share a few important things first! If you’re traveling with 3 people but only booked for 2, there’s a chance you might need to change rooms because the initially confirmed room type might not have an extra bed. During peak seasons with tons of bookings, finding an alternative room could be tricky. But don’t worry! If you honestly and sincerely explain the mistake to the staff, they’re usually super helpful and will work hard to find the best solution possible. I totally don’t recommend sneaking in an extra person secretly – if you get caught, the hotel can cancel your entire booking, even if you’re already there, which would leave you without a place to stay!
- Option 2: Call the hotel directly at +86-21-3158-0000 to fix the reservation.
- Option 3: If your booking is still within 52 hours before 00:00 on your check-in date, you can cancel and rebook! If you cancel within this timeframe, you can get a full refund. However, if you cancel less than 52 hours before check-in, you won’t get a refund for the first night (including service fees and taxes).
But here’s my best advice: Before booking, double-check all the details carefully before paying. Trust me, fixing a wrong booking can be way more complicated than taking a moment to review everything beforehand!
Cancellation Policy: Your Flexible Disney Booking Guide!
Want to change your plans? No worries! You can cancel your reservation and get a full refund, as long as you do it at least 52 hours before midnight on your check-in date. This means you’ve got plenty of flexibility to adjust your magical Disney adventure without losing your hard-earned cash. Disney understands that sometimes travel plans can be unpredictable, so they’ve made canceling super simple and stress-free!
If you don’t show up on your scheduled check-in day, your reservation will be automatically canceled. And here’s the catch – you’ll be charged the full rate for the first night’s stay, including all service fees and taxes.
One guest can book up to 3 rooms max. But here’s the important part – the number of people in each room MUST match exactly what you booked. You can have a few less people, but DO NOT even think about sneaking in extra guests!
Why? Because if you try to play tricks, the hotel staff totally has the right to cancel your entire reservation on the spot. Trust me, it’s not worth risking your magical Disney adventure over a little room shuffle! They’re serious about keeping things fair for everyone.
So play by the rules, and enjoy your Disney magic hassle-free! Honesty is always the best policy, especially at the happiest place on earth.
You can buy Disney park tickets directly at the hotel – no advance booking required. And here’s the super awesome part: Even if tickets are sold out everywhere else or completely unavailable online, hotel guests always have a guaranteed ticket.
It’s like having a special Disney VIP pass! No more stress about tickets selling out or missing out on the magic. Just waltz down to the hotel ticket counter, and you’re all set for an incredible day at the park
Summary of staying at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel Is it worth it?
Many people might think staying at a park hotel is an unnecessary splurge because Disney hotel rooms are pretty expensive compared to regular hotels. And you know what?
I totally get that!!! The prices are seriously high and not ideal for budget-conscious travelers who want to keep their expenses in check.
But from my perspective? Staying at a Disney hotel during your park visit is an absolute game-changer of convenience! Let me tell you why: A day in the park is INTENSE. You’re standing in ride lines, walking everywhere, watching fireworks, and basically using every ounce of energy you’ve got. By the end of the day, you’re completely exhausted!
After all that excitement, the only thing I want is a soft bed and immediate rest. That’s where a park hotel becomes my absolute lifesaver! When I walk out of the park, I can be in my cozy hotel room in just 10-15 minutes. Imagine that – a fluffy bed waiting just for you, a warm bathtub with your favorite bath bomb ready to soothe those tired muscles. Pure bliss!
If I chose a hotel outside the park, I’d be looking at a 30-60 minute journey (depending on the hotel’s distance). No thanks! I’ll stick with the Disney hotel convenience.
BUT – and this is super important – the decision is totally yours. Everyone has different budgets, preferences, and travel styles. I’m just sharing my experience to help you make an informed choice. Use this review as a guide, but ultimately, trust your own travel instincts!
Happy Disney adventures, friends!
